What's new...

There have been a lot of changes happening in my life lately and I just wanted to update everyone. Finals are this week and this will conclude my semester. I have one semester left of coursework and I have decided to postpone graduation till Spring 2010. The reasons for this are that I have been given the opportunity to work on some research for the field of rehab and one of my goals is to get published before I apply for a PHD. So next semester I will finish my remaining four courses, work only part-time (still job hunting) and do research.

Also I was just nominated and accepted to be the head of the Recruitment Committee for my graduate program at California State University. I have been part of this committee for the last year and a half and now that the current head is graduating she nominated me to take over. I am a little overwelmed but I am excited to have this opportunity. I think I will learn a lot from it and that it will add to my marketability.

In church I received a new calling in the Relief Society Presidency...talk about feeling like a fish out of water...I have really grown to love and appreciate the ward that I am in and I feel like I owe a lot to them for the changes that have occured over the last 18 months. Looking back I would never expect to find myself here but alas I am enjoying every bit of it.

I am spending my holidays in CA and I am sad that I will miss my family and friends in UT. I have a lot to get done here and unfortunately UT still holds some things that I am not really prepared to deal with right now. I have some big plans though for delicious cooking adventures, trips to the mountains, New Years down south, and a whole stack of books taunting me as I resort to textbooks and flashcards for finals. Also I will miss the snow...

Oh yes and I created an additional blog that you can link two on my friends list titled "Gluten-free Grad"...I am trying to get hyped up about this new gluten-free concept...That is all. The end.

Heavy Metal...

Ok so this last saturday I got the chance to go with some of my favorite californians to shoot some guns. I went a few times while I was dating Jason but its been almost 11 months since I have shot one. It was great since most of the guys that came owned one or two guns so I got to learn to shoot a lot of different ones. My friend Christian (the redhead) cracks me up since every time he would see me pick up a new gun he would come running over with a look of sheer terror in his eyes and take it from my hands to give me a lesson...I think he was afraid I might hurt someone;)...Enjoy the pics!

A Day at the Beach...

Ok so given that final projects are due next week and finals are the week after I decided I would do that which I am best at and procrastinate by taking a day to go to the beach. My adventure groupies (Nathania and Harmony) and I went to a beach called Morro Bay and also a National park called Montana de Oro. It was a beatiful day and much warmer on the beach than it was in Fresno! It's crazy that here we can go to a warm beach only weeks away from Christmas. We had a great time taking pictures, walking around and even getting in the water...
Here is our version of California snow angels...

We bought a kite at one of the kite shops and Harmony was sad it wasn't more windy but I thought she did a pretty great job getting it up considering!...
